Hoy os traigo un pequeño resumen para conocer un poco más las partes del pincel y como influyen en sus usos, pues es uno de los materiales básicos que utilizamos en las técnicas pictóricas.
En mis clases de dibujo y pintura dedico tiempo a explicar las herramientas que tenemos disponibles y como usarlas de la mejor manera posible. Tan importante es la pintura que queremos realizar, como los soportes y materiales que utilicemos para crearla.
En esta entrada vamos a ver algunos curiosidades sobre los pinceles, empezamos con:
Las partes del pincel son tres: Pelo, virola o férula y mango.
1.- El pelo o cerdas, determinan la calidad, el trazo y la retención de agua del pincel.
Pueden ser de dos tipos:
- Cerdas de pelo sintético normalmente de nylon o poliéster. Actualmente son las más usadas y también economicamente las más asequibles.
- Cerdas de pelo natural, son las de mayor calidad. Los pelos naturales más usados son los de ardillas, comadrejas, buey, cerdo, cabra… dependiendo de la técnica que utilicemos, serán más adecuados unas cerdas u otras.
2.- Virola o Férula, es la parte que une el mango y el pelo. Su forma determina si el pincel es plano o redondo.
Es importante diferenciar para que técnicas pictóricas es recomendable usar unos u otros. Por ejemplo para técnicas al agua como la acuarela, los pinceles utilizados deben ser de punta redonda, porque el tipo de virola redonda permite dejar fluir mejor la pintura. Sin embargo para técnicas como el óleo o el acrílico, los pinceles planos nos permiten manejar mejor la masa de pintura.
Esto no es una regla cerrada, pues el artista es el que debe decidir en cada momento que herramienta utilizar según lo que quiera conseguir.
La virola en la mayoría de los casos es metálica, pero en algunos pinceles redondos de mayor calidad, todavía se utiliza de forma tradicional el cañón de oca. Ésta es la parte más gruesa del centro de la pluma de oca. Este material se envolvía uniendo el mango con el pelo y se agarraba fuertemente con alambres (engaste fránces).
3.- El mango o también conocido como palo, en la mayoría de los pinceles es de madera, aunque también los podemos encontrar metálicos o de plástico. Las maderas más utilizadas en pinceles de calidad son el roble o boj por su resistencia.
